Drive Your Corvette Around the Talladega Superspeedway on May 25 with Hendrick Driven for Veterans

If you have ever dreamed of driving your Corvette on the high banks of a superspeedway, our friends at the non-profit Hendrick Driven for Veterans can make that happen! The veteran services group is hosting their annual takeover of the Talladega Superspeedway on May 25th. Book your reservations now to drive your Corvette or other personal vehicle on the 2.7 mile superspeedway. All proceeds go towards assisting veterans who have served our country.

Hendrick Driven for Veterans (previously known as Vettes4Vets) has been offering this unique fundraiser annually over the Memorial Day weekend, and it’s their biggest fundraiser of the year. The festivities get underway on Friday afternoon, May 24th with a Show and Shine at the Hendrick Hoover Automall in Hoover, Alabama held from 2pm to 5pm. This well-attended event brings in some great looking Corvettes and other muscle cars from Birmingham and throughout the southeast. All are welcome to this show and even the city’s mayor will be joining the fun at 3:30 pm! Check out the cool rides and enjoy the free food and entertainment!

On Saturday morning, it’s Talladega time! Book your five-lap session for $110 and you’ll be all set to drive on the superspeedway. The laps are run at what are considered “safe speeds”. With Talladega being a 2.7 mile tri-oval course with 33-degree banking, the cars can get pretty spread out and you can expect speeds that are generally faster than normal highway driving, but it’s all done within the safe confines of the track. The first session begins at 8:00 AM and while those cars are running, the next session of 15 cars is staged, and so on and so forth…

This event isn’t just for Corvettes. “Run what you Brung” on the Superspeedway and help raise much needed funds for a variety of Veteran causes.

Gary Nelson is the point man for Hendrick Driven for Veterans, and he also runs the Corvette department at Hendrick Chevrolet Hoover. Gary was a Cobra gunship pilot during Vietnam and flew 747s as a UPS pilot before finding his second career at the Hendrick dealership in 2016. He tells us that Hendrick Driven for Veterans comprises a board that works with other veteran support organizations to identify veterans in need. They also focus on providing community services benefiting veterans and they offer grants to vetted individuals or other veteran-focused 501(c)(3) non-profit foundations who help Veterans, current military personnel, and/or their family members in distress and need. Since its conception, Vettes4Vets/Hendrick Driven for Veterans has raised over $350,000 to help Veterans and all donations are tax-deductible.

When you make a tax-deductible donation by purchasing a 5-lap session, all those funds go directly to the Hendrick Driven for Veterans. Their partner Hendrick Chevrolet Hoover picks up the $11,000+ track rental fee, and many volunteers like those from Team Corvette Alabama step up to make these annual track days safe and so much fun. Last year’s event brought in over $30,000 for veterans and they are hoping to top amount again this year.

Let’s make this Memorial Day count! Register now at Hendrick-Driven-for-Veterans.Square.Site for the Hendrick Driven for Veterans Track Day event at Talladega Superspeedway on May 25th. Your support and participation will help make a difference in the lives of Alabama veterans.
